Right Parameter of testing will get you the right results

Thers is a long standing MYTH in the corrugated box industry industry on quality testing parameters. Over the period of time, some old school quality testing systems have established bursting strength testing of paper as a paramester of testing a good box. This parameter stands invalidated by tappi (International association for establishing quality parameters of corrugated boxes) since as long back as 1964. But some book texts have not yet changes to incorporate the new standards.

RCT testing of paper is better than bursting testing in making a better corrugated box because it provides a more accurate measure of the paper’s ability to withstand crushing forces, which is a key factor in determining the overall strength and durability of the corrugated box.

While the bursting test measures the amount of pressure required to rupture a piece of paper, it does not provide information about the paper’s ability to withstand crushing forces, which is critical in the construction of corrugated boxes. In contrast, the RCT test measures the resistance of paper to crushing under a localized load, simulating the type of pressure that a corrugated box would experience during handling, shipping, and storage.

The RCT test is more representative of real-world conditions, as corrugated boxes are often subjected to crushing forces rather than a uniform pressure. Therefore, using RCT test results to select paper for the construction of corrugated boxes ensures that the paper used has the necessary strength to withstand the typical conditions encountered during transportation and storage.

In addition, BY USING high RCT paper, WE can USE lighter-weight materials in the construction of corrugated boxes, without sacrificing strength and durability. This can result in lower shipping costs and a more environmentally friendly packaging solution.

TO SUM UP, RCT testing is better than bursting testing in making a better corrugated box because it provides a more accurate measure of the paper’s ability to withstand crushing forces, which is a key factor in determining the overall strength and durability of the box.

This can result in better performance and protection of the packaged product during transportation and storage.
